During my devotion this morning in "Jesus Today" by Sarah Young, a cheerful heart was the topic and so perfect for where I am right now. It was so good to be reminded that "a cheerful heart is good like medicine" Prov. 17:22, And Sarah's quote just hit home "A joyful heart will improve your health-spiritually, emotionally, and physically. So fill your mind with thankful thoughts till your heart overflows with Joy." There are so many things in my life to be thankful for....Cards and phone calls and posts and a wonderful gift from our community group that just blew us away. I have 3 amazing kids, an amazing husband and family that is showing so much support and love. But most of all, I have my Savior in heaven. What is there NOT to be cheerful about, but yet in the midst of chronic pain, or like my friends battling cancer and the others I know battling chronic pain and illness, and then the one friend whose nephew was in a horrible car crash, there are times we have to remind ourselves of the blessings. And that we are never, ever alone, no matter what we face. I do not know what will happen tomorrow, but I can remind myself to be cheerful today.
Not only that, there was one other reminder found in John 16:33 amp "I have told you these things so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustrations, but be of good cheer[take courage, be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world, [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]"
What am amazing, encouraging word from our Lord! Be of good cheer because He has overcome the world and He is in complete and total control. I don't know about you, but thinking on that and praising Him and letting joyful thoughts fill my mind, how can I not be of good cheer in spite of the the tribulation, trials, distress and frustrations! May God fill your mind and heart with JOY today! Many blessings! DJ
